Gracie’s Lake House

Bridgton, MAINE

The most recent Challenge: Create more dining space for large gatherings.

The original A-frame cabin situated high above the lake was a perfect year-round
getaway for a family of six. As the family grew up, so did the home. Over a ten year span, there were three renovations/additions to give more entertaining space for extended
family stays and weekend entertaining.

The original renovation included three second floor bedrooms and a master suite. The next expansion included a three-season screen porch and deck. The third (and final?) expansion included a new kitchen built between the main house and the porch.

The existing kitchen and dining area were locked in by a porch and deck, so –
they were cut away from the original house. A new structure was built and the porch and deck were re-attached. An understated entry porch opens up to high ceilings, a u-shaped kitchen, and a new dining space which overlooks the lake.

The existing kitchen was redesigned with a desk, a wine cabinet, and a game table
which doubles as “the kid’s” dining table. Cabinetry finishes and walls were painted neutral to allow the natural wood to be the color. Colorful accents were used on furnishings and artwork. Rugs by Angela Adams.

Fun fact: We named this page for the homeowners’ beloved Brittany, Gracie.
